I started this head the other night. It's based heavily on Misha Collins, though it's not an exact portrait because it was technically intended for one of my characters.
I had considered doing a static figure of Castiel too, but the scale is off. It's much too big. The figure would probably end up around 14-16 inches, then the wings would probably bump it up to around 20-24 inches. Too big, I think.
The head is ironically around the size of a Tonner boy... so if I wanted to, I could finish it up and work on it to up the resemblence and cast it to match, then have a full doll without even having to make the body myself.
The other option is to continue working it, take it in a different direction, and make it the first head for the porcelain jointed doll I'm gearing up to make. I don't know though. I mean, I could always junk cast it and do a couple things with it.
In any case, it's been a really great piece for me because I "get" eyes and eyelids now... and they've been the weak point of my face sculpts for a long time. LEVEL UP! Now I just need a similar epiphany for hands.
i am not sure it looks just like him, but i can see the resemblece for sure...its a darn pretty head which ever...cant wait to see what route you chose
Thanks! If I decide to make a Cass figure or doll, I'll work to raise the resemblance. It's not as craggy as he is... and some some angles the resemblance is stronger too! But I don't know. I don't know if I actually want a Cass figure, and if I do, I want it to be considerably smaller... maybe 2/3 this size.
maybe the slight resemblance is better then Misha has such a pretty man face i do adore him least you have some practice with this one to know what to do on a different scale
